The Ford Motor Company’s F-Series pickup recently topped America’s best-selling truck charts for the 40th straight year in 2021 and is again the industry’s top-selling truck for the 45th year in a row. The F-series now includes the F-150 model and other bigger pickups, and the fact that it has retained the “best-of” titles this year was significant given the world’s ongoing shortage of semiconductor chips that severely reduced production across the industry.

Ford and Newlab, an expert community of innovators and designers who create transformative technology, recently revealed the five startup choices that will take part in the new Mobility Studio. The Mobility Studio is a program designed to support the technological advancements, product collaborations, and business models that foster a cleaner and greener future for transportation around the world.

The Ford Motor Company’s F-150 Lightning is getting ready for release next year, and Ford plans to hire a team of “Charge Angels” to guarantee that the people who own its EVs can find dependable places to charge when needed. In a recent interview with Automotive News, Ford EV lead Darren Palmer stated that technicians in uniquely-equipped Mustang Mach-Es will venture across the US to test out charging stations where corresponding vehicle data and “angry social media posts” indicate how the stations may not be working as intended.

 

This week Ford released their September 2021 sales report, which was full of encouraging information. While the auto industry as a whole is down from previous years due to the combined forces of the pandemic and the recent shortage of semiconductor chips, Ford has made improvements over last month that seem to point towards better things to come.

Ford is now expanding this service to be available to FordPass™ Rewards members. Customers can call their dealer to schedule an appointment and request a pickup, at home or even at work.

Back in May, the CDC revised its guideline for face coverings, stating that those who were fully vaccinated need no longer wear masks in most indoor settings. Now, the United Auto Workers union (UAW) has finally followed suit, opting to lift its mask requirements for Ford factory workers beginning on July 12, 2021.

Earlier this month, the Ford Motor Company announced that local Michigan energy company DTE Energy had been commissioned to create a new rooftop solar array at the Ford Research & Engineering Center in Dearborn, Michigan. 

The 2,159-panel array is located on the rooftop level of the Deck 400 parking structure and includes an integrated battery storage system that will be used to power newly-installed electric vehicle (EV) chargers.
