Customization has always been a major part of Ford vehicles, and with Ford’s commitment to bringing electric vehicles to the mainstream market, it’s no surprise that electrified custom vehicles will inevitably become a big deal for Ford in the near future, something indicated by the all-electric F-100 Eluminator concept that was recently released at the 2021 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. This new concept is a zero-tailpipe-emissions truck equipped with the all-new Ford Performance Parts Eluminator electric crate motor.
The concept F-100 Eluminator is based on a heritage 1978 F-100 pickup, and the Eluminator is the first e-crate motor made by Ford Performance Parts, based on the Mustang Mach-E GT’s traction motor. Two electric traction motors power the front and rear wheels of the f-100 Eluminator to give this AWD truck 480 horsepower and 634 lb.-ft. of torque. The e-crate motor is the first in what will certainly become an extensive line of performance parts and accessories for Ford electric vehicles as their prevalence on the roads increases.
The e-crate motor is available through authorized Ford parts warehouse dealers or online at Ford Performance Parts for a retail price of $3,900. This motor is intended to appeal to those who want a transverse-oriented powertrain in order to electrify a wide variety of vehicles, including both vintage and modern cars, trucks, and SUVs. The Eluminator e-crate delivers 281 horsepower and 317 lb.-ft. of torque, and it is street-legal in all 50 states. More corresponding components for the Eluminator powertrain are being planned for the future, made by some of the top performance manufacturers.
“Ford owners have personalized, customized and enhanced their vehicles since the beginning – from changing looks to bringing the power,” remarked Eric Cin, global director of Vehicle Personalization, Accessories and Licensing. “Our F-100 Eluminator concept is a preview of how we’re supporting customers as they go all-electric and embrace zero-tailpipe emissions performance, even for our heritage vehicles.”
Keeping with the electrified theme, Ford has several other vehicles on display at the SEMA show, such as the 1,400-horsepower Mustang Mach-E 1400 demo, the 2022 F-150 Lightning, A Mustang Cobra Jet 1400, and a Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition. Several of these vehicles were shown in action as a demonstration of electric performance.
“The fact is, electric performance is fun, and as the industry moves toward electric vehicles, motorsports and the performance aftermarket will too,” said Mark Rushbrook, global director of Ford Performance. “Just as Ford is committed to leading the electric revolution on the product side, Ford Performance is equally committed to winning on the performance and motorsports front.”
