People living in California have taken up this cause with surprising enthusiasm, and they are not afraid to pay top dollar for beautiful and elegant hybrids that helps save fuel and energy. Well, the people that can afford to pay this much for a car at least. The high sale’s tax alone is enough to keep many potential buyers at bay. With that said, considering the film and tech sector, there are enough people in these industries to make hybrid car sellers happy.
Statistics
One in four Ford Fusion sedans that are currently being sold in Los Angeles is a plug-in hybrid or a hybrid. Ford Fusion has seen a 35 percent increase in the sales from June 2015 to May 2016. Fusion Energi sales have increased by 40 percent in the same period as opposed to last year.
These figures contrast with the stats from the rest of the country. Increased interest from consumers in SUVs and trucks and low gas prices (low gas prices because of oil shale development) has hurt the sales of Fusion as well as other hybrids. Also, the Energi hybrid faces stiff competition from other plugins and mid-size sedans.
June was the first month that the 2017 models of the Fusion Hybrid and Energi could be bought. The plug-in hybrid received an increase in total electric range to twenty-two miles. This compares with twenty and nineteen miles for the 2016 model.
Efficiency
Efficiency ratings increase to 42 mpg when it is working as a hybrid and 97 MPGe when running only on electricity. This is up from 38 mpg and 88 MPGe from the year 2016. That is a sizeable increase!
When launched back in the year 2014, the Fusion Energi was rated with 43 mpg and 100 MPGe, but Ford had to then reduce the ratings after they found errors in the testing procedures. Ford says the efficiency and the electric range goes up because of changes in the regenerative braking algorithms and powertrain control software.
The Fusion Hybrid also obtained new software. Ford says that changes made to both of their cars will help create a pleasant experience while driving. Both cars even get the same interior and exterior updates as the rest of 2017's Fusion lineup including restyled grilles, a new rotary gear selector, and new LED headlights.

As far as plug-in hybrids are concerned, this certainly is one of the best ones out there. The nifty updates to the interior and the facelift, along with the new Platinum model helps provide a luxurious environment to buyers who want to be eco-friendly.
Who said you cannot have both? Who said you cannot ride in style and be kind to the environment simultaneously?
In terms of changes on the exterior, the Fusion finally looks less like an Aston Martin and more like a Ford. The rest of the lineup has also adapted this look. In terms of specifics, the head and tail lamps have been upgraded; the front fascia is more angular and wider, LED fog lamps, chrome garnishes, new 17-inch wheels, and so forth.
The main changes in the interior include a longer armrest, better open storage area access, and Sync 3 Infotainment system.
If you are willing to turn the ignition (pun intended) on for the Platinum trim, you can even receive some creamy quilted seats with padded leather and antiqued Cocoa on the steering wheel and dash-top. That’s pretty impressive right?
