Ford and Lincoln have made significant advancements in the 2025 J.D. Power U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study, an annual report that measures vehicle durability and customer satisfaction. Lincoln climbed six positions to 19th place, while Ford made an impressive leap of 10 spots, moving to 13th overall. These results highlight the continued efforts both brands have made to improve the long-term reliability of their vehicles.
The J.D. Power study provides valuable insights by surveying original owners of 2022 model-year vehicles, gathering feedback on factors like performance, reliability, and features after three years of ownership. The recent improvements in Ford and Lincoln’s rankings show that both brands are enhancing their vehicles' long-term durability and meeting consumer expectations.
Josh Halliburton, Executive Director of Quality at Ford, commented on the results: “We’re encouraged by the progress we’re making to improve quality while staying focused on tougher testing and rigorous monitoring of new vehicles to make sure they are as good as they can be when they leave the factory. We believe these actions will result in better long-term ownership experiences for our customers, like we saw in this year’s Vehicle Dependability Study.”
Ford’s advancement reflects the company's increasing emphasis on building reliable vehicles. By instituting more rigorous testing processes and improving production monitoring, Ford has shown that it is dedicated to providing cars that stand the test of time. This focus on dependability complements Ford’s strong performance in the 2024 J.D. Power U.S. Initial Quality Study, where the Bronco Sport ranked first among small SUVs for initial quality.
Lincoln’s ascent in the study is equally noteworthy. The luxury brand's progress indicates a growing commitment to providing vehicles that not only meet the expectations of luxury buyers but exceed them in terms of long-term reliability and performance. This is especially important in the luxury vehicle segment, where longevity and dependability are key factors in customers' purchasing decisions.
These results are an important milestone for both Ford and Lincoln, as they signal an ongoing improvement in vehicle dependability and consumer satisfaction. With both brands focused on refining their cars for long-term durability, it’s clear that Ford and Lincoln are positioning themselves to deliver the best driving experiences possible for their customers.
