In a groundbreaking move that's set to revolutionize the electric vehicle (EV) landscape, Ford has announced that its F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E retail customers will now have unprecedented access to Tesla Superchargers across the United States and Canada. This monumental collaboration marks the first time any non-Tesla automaker has gained such access, significantly expanding charging options for Ford EV owners.

According to a recent Cox Automotive Consumer Sentiment Study, the availability of charging stations ranks as the second most significant barrier to EV adoption, trailing only behind price concerns. Ford's strategic partnership with Tesla addresses this critical issue head-on, ensuring that more customers can confidently embrace electric mobility by providing enhanced access to reliable fast charging infrastructure.

With over 15,000 Tesla Superchargers now accessible to Ford EV owners, the BlueOval™ Charge Network has effectively more than doubled its capacity for DC fast charging. This milestone not only enhances convenience for existing Ford customers but also sets a new standard for the industry, demonstrating Ford's commitment to fostering a robust and accessible charging ecosystem.

To express gratitude to its electric vehicle customers, Ford is offering the Fast Charging Adapter at no cost to both new and existing customers enrolled in the BlueOval™ Charge Network until June 30, 2024. This adapter is essential for charging at upgraded Tesla Superchargers and represents Ford's dedication to ensuring a seamless and user-friendly charging experience.

Reserving the Fast Charging Adapter is a simple process, accessible through Ford's online platform. Retail customers can visit ford.com/FastChargingAdapter, log in to Ford Pass, and follow the step-by-step instructions to reserve their adapter. Additionally, Ford Pro commercial customers will receive communication regarding the adapter reservation process, ensuring that all segments of Ford's customer base can benefit from this initiative.

The integration of Tesla Superchargers into the BlueOval™ Charge Network is further complemented by Ford's commitment to future-proofing its electric vehicles. In the coming years, Ford will introduce next-generation electric vehicles equipped with the North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector, eliminating the need for adapters to access Tesla Superchargers.

Jim Farley, President and CEO of Ford, expressed gratitude to Tesla CEO Elon Musk and his team for their collaboration, acknowledging the transformative impact of improved charging accessibility on the EV customer experience. Farley emphasized that this strategic partnership reflects Ford's vision for sustainable mobility and commitment to driving positive change in the automotive industry.

The BlueOval™ Charge Network, North America's largest public charging network offered by an automaker, continues to expand, now boasting over 126,000 chargers, including more than 28,000 fast chargers. With a seamless payment system integrated into the FordPass App, Ford EV owners can easily locate, activate, and pay for charging services, simplifying the charging process and enhancing convenience.

For commercial customers, Ford Pro offers tailored solutions to meet their charging needs, ensuring that businesses with EV fleets can access the extensive charging infrastructure provided by the BlueOval™ Charge Network. Moreover, Ford remains committed to supporting home charging solutions, recognizing that the majority of EV drivers rely on home charging for their daily needs.

Ford's collaboration with Tesla to grant access to Tesla Superchargers represents a significant milestone in the journey towards widespread EV adoption. By addressing the critical need for reliable fast charging infrastructure, Ford is empowering customers to embrace electric mobility with confidence, paving the way for a sustainable and electrified future of transportation.
