Part of Ford’s team of drivers for the Ford Performance Mustang GT3 has already been announced, including legends Joey Hand, Dirk Müller, Harry Tincknell and Mike Rockenfeller. Now, five new drivers have been added to the lineup to race in 2024: Ben Barker, Chris Mies, Dennis Olsen, Andy Priaulx and Frédéric Vervisch.
The new car will be driven by Mies and Vervisch at Daytona International Speedway in preparation for the Rolex 24, also taking place at Daytona next month. At this event, the drivers will complete the lineup for the Ford Multimatic Motorsports team, with Mies joining Tincknell and Rockenfeller in the #64 Mustang and Vervisch joining Hand and Müller in the #65.
This appearance at Daytona will mark the official sports car racing debut of the new Ford Mustang GT3. As the Mustang is coming into its 60th anniversary year, it’s an especially exciting time for the GT3 to be making its entrance. Throughout the year, the Mustang will be competing on six out of seven continents around the world, racing on legendary tracks like Le Mans and Interlagos.
This team of nine drivers are bringing their collective experience to this year’s international Mustang GT3 races and programs, including the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IMSA), GT World Challenge Europe (GTWCE), the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). Plans for other events later in 2024 are still in the works.
“This is such an important and special year for Mustang – it will celebrate its 60th anniversary and we take Mustang racing globally,” said Mark Rushbrook, Global Director of Ford Performance Motorsports. “To take an icon like Mustang racing, we need a line-up of the best and most experienced GT racers, and our nine sports car factory drivers represent just that.”
“Together with our partners at Multimatic Motorsports and our first customer teams Proton Competition and Dinamic GT, we are ready to take on the best in the world at the most iconic race circuits. I can’t wait to get started at Daytona in January.”
