Ford’s E-Transit van has been making waves in the electric cargo van market since its North American debut a year ago. The E-Transit has firmly established itself as the top-selling electric cargo van in both the United States and Canada, and the leader in Europe, with the vehicle's demand continuing to rise. As a result, Ford announced that it will be increasing E-Transit production at the Kansas City Assembly Plant starting next month.
The E-Transit, which comes with Ford Pro software, services, and charging solutions, is at the forefront of the revolution for businesses looking to adopt battery electric technology on a global scale. According to Ted Cannis, Ford Pro CEO, “In its first year on the road, E-Transit has made an immediate impact, and we are just getting started.”
While other automakers are still announcing plans to bring electric vans to the market, the E-Transit has already made impressive strides in driving EV adoption. In the U.S., the van has already sold 6,500 units through December 2022, including all 50 states, accounting for over 60% of the electric van market.
Since arriving in February 2022, E-Transit customers across the United States and Canada have logged at least 12 million miles. Ford Pro E-Telematics data shows that E-Transit drivers have saved more than 745,000 gallons of gas and more than 4.3 million kilograms of CO2 compared to gas-powered Transit vans of similar size.
The E-Transit is a versatile van that offers customers eight configurations to serve a wide range of business types. It includes chassis cab and cutaway models, making it the market leader in 28 of 30 industries recognized by S&P Global. Its capabilities make it the perfect choice for businesses looking for reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable transportation options.
Ford's commitment to producing innovative, sustainable, and customizable vehicles is evident in the E-Transit's success. The company's vision is to produce electric vehicles with the same level of performance, affordability, and convenience as gas-powered ones.
