Earlier this week, the Ford Motor Company announced that it would begin testing the all-new 2022 Ford E-Transit in Europe very soon. Now, the Blue Oval brand has also stated that an E-Transit registration site has officially been launched for U.S. customers.
Along with the announcement of the registration site, Ford has also announced updated pricing targets for the company’s first-ever full-size all-electric Transit cargo van. As of now, the E-Transit cutaway is targeting a starting MSRP of $43,295, and the high-roof extended wheelbase cargo van is targeting a starting MSRP of $54,690.
The Ford E-Transit will be built alongside the traditional Transit at Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo, Missouri. It is Ford’s goal that with the zero-emission Transit, businesses nationwide can begin to achieve their sustainability goals.
The fact is, demand for all-electric vehicles is growing, especially in the commercial sector. Ford data shows that in the U.S. alone, 70 percent of the full-size bus and van business is going all-electric by 2030, representing more than 300,000 vehicles per year.
As America’s best-selling name in commercial vans for 42 years, Ford intends to maintain its strong market share as our society begins to enter the era of electrification.
“We’ve had so much interest early on, we wanted to open this registration site to serve customers with a build mix for their needs across all van body styles,” said Ted Cannis, general manager, Ford’s North American commercial business.
“Some customers want high-roof vans to maximize internal cargo space, while others need to install bodies on cutaways and chassis cabs. Customers will have an all-electric solution – from box truck delivery to parking structure-friendly utility service vans and everything in between,” Cannis added.
