Due to overwhelming excitement and demand, the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E got off to a bit of a rough start after a stop-ship was issued in January following a quality issue. Unfortunately, that meant that a number of eager Mach-E buyers have been forced to wait a bit longer to take delivery of their all-new all-electric rides.

As a result of the frustrating experience, Ford is now offering compensation in the form of free charging, a cash back incentive, and in some cases, a free first payment!

“Quality is a top priority. Delivery timing of approximately 4,500 Mustang Mach-Es is being extended as part of our commitment to deliver a quality vehicle to customers,” Ford recently said in a statement.

“We know customers are eager to get into their Mach-E and we are providing an additional 250 kilowatt-hours of free charging on the FordPass Charging Network for this delivery delay. In addition, Ford will cover the first month’s payment for approximately 250 customers experiencing extended delays receiving their Mustang Mach-E,” the company added.

To let customers know, Ford is sending out emails to buyers who have been affected by the Mach-E delays, along with a notification that it will provide owners with a $1,000 cash back incentive when they take delivery of their all-new Mach-E from their chosen local dealer. If the owner had already taken delivery, Ford provided a phone number for owners to call to take advantage of the discount.

The 250 kilowatts of free fast DC charging is in addition to the 250 kW provided at the time of purchase. To access the free charging credits, owners will have to use Electrify America’s FordPass Charging Network. To activate the free charging, owners will first need to download the FordPass app, activate their Mach-E’s modem, and finally visit Ford’s connected services page.
