Back in May, the CDC revised its guideline for face coverings, stating that those who were fully vaccinated need no longer wear masks in most indoor settings. Now, the United Auto Workers union (UAW) has finally followed suit, opting to lift its mask requirements for Ford factory workers beginning on July 12, 2021.

Again, this allowance will only be afforded to those who are fully vaccinated and have the documentation to prove it. Autoworkers who have not yet been vaccinated or have chosen not to vaccinate for personal reasons will need to continue wearing masks out of “an abundance of caution.”

Though this news definitely seems like a positive in the nation’s continued journey to recovery, the union will still ask that workers continue to practice proper social distancing, hand washing, and workstation cleaning procedures.

In addition, the UAW has recently announced that they would be phasing out temperature screenings at facility entrances and exits as the nation’s cases continue to decline.

The UAW and Ford continue to encourage workers to get vaccinated, and Ford has been offering on-site vaccines for its employees at a number of U.S. plants for several months now, including Ford Flat Rock Assembly Plant, Ford Van Dyke Transmission Plant, Ford Rawsonville Components Plant, Ford Lima Engine Plant, Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant, Ford Michigan Assembly Plant, the Ford Chicago Assembly Plant, and the Ford Chicago Stamping Plant.

Meanwhile, Dunphy Ford continues to clean and sanitize public areas and vehicles regularly, ensuring that we are as safe and healthy as possible when you need us, and doing our part to put an end to the COVID-19 pandemic once and for all.
