In 2017, Ford announced that the famous Ford Bronco will be making a comeback in 2020, with the off-road vehicle featuring a hybrid powertrain, according to the company.
There haven’t been too many details about specifications of the new Bronco, but Ford says the vehicle will feature the latest in smart technology while staying true to the roots of past Broncos.
“The iconic SUV was one of the world’s leading 4x4 vehicles for three decades, from the mid-sixties until the mid-nineties,” Ford says on their website on a page which reveals scant details about the returning vehicle. “This new generation Bronco boasts the latest in smart technology and a bold new look while remaining true to its rugged roots.”
Ford President of The Americas Joe Hinrichs said the new Ford Bronco will be a great fit for off-road adventures, maintaining that the vehicle will in fact be tailored to tackling all-types of terrain.
“Bronco will be a no-compromise midsize 4x4 utility for thrill seekers who want to venture way beyond the city,” he said.
Ford has announced that the vehicle will be produced at the company’s assembly plant in Wayne, Michigan, but Ford Motor Company hasn’t offered any looks at the design of the new vehicle, other than one photo where the outline of the 4x4 is visible.
A concept vehicle was made exclusively for the movie “Rampage” starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson after Johnson expressed his desire to feature a Ford vehicle in the film.
The vehicle was originally introduced as a multi-purpose vehicle in the mid-1960s, before the term SUV was used to describe vehicles with off-road capabilities. The Bronco was produced from 1966 until 1996, with 5 different generations of vehicles produced over that period of time.
