Tragedies and natural disasters can strike at any time. Some accidents are small, while others are quite large and can quite literally change lives. It’s always best to prepare for such accidents, but they are often unannounced and unexpected. Such was the case of a fire that erupted in Meridian Magnesium Products of America’s plant in early May.

The plant produces key parts necessary for the production of the Ford F-150. With this fire damaging the manufacturing capabilities of the plant, Ford has announced that it will be pausing production of the F-150.

This announcement took many people by surprise. It also caused some to worry about the future of the 2018 model. While the fire is far from the optimal situation, it will not inhibit Ford’s ability to sell F-150 pickups. The company has already built up an inventory of the pickups, so customers will still be able to purchase the nation’s best-selling vehicle, and regualr production is planned to resume as soon as possible.

Joe Hinrichs, who is the executive vice president and president of Global Operations, was quoted on Ford’s media site saying, ““This is a fluid situation, but we are working closely with our supplier partners to do everything we can to limit the impact on our production.” He also went on to express his belief that the production halt will be short lived.

Despite the challenges thrown its way, Ford is striving to ensure its customers receive the vehicle they desire.
