The all-new 2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 is being rolled out with improvements to the vehicle’s performance, design and technology to create a monster of a Mustang that remains true to its Shelby roots.
The Shelby GT350 has received updates to its tires, chassis and aerodynamic design in the 2019 model to create a vehicle that performs better on the track and on the street.
The Upgrades
The new variant of the model first introduced in 2016 features Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires with a thread pattern design and compound developed specifically for the Shelby GT350. The tires will help provide an improved grip and increased acceleration and braking in the 2019 Shelby GT350, Ford said.
The company also said the vehicle’s 295/35 front and 305/35 rear tires will help improve stiffness and complement the performance of the GT350’s 19-inch aluminum wheels.
The GT350 also underwent some big aerodynamic enhancements, including the addition of a new rear spoiler with an available Gurney flap. In conjunction with an optimized grille closeout, these two features are designed to improve the vehicle’s aerodynamic efficiency when equipped with the Gurney flap. The flap, when attached to the rear spoiler, will create additional downforce, making the Shelby GT350 go even faster, according to Ford.
The car’s MagneRide active suspension is also seeing improvements, gaining recalibrated springs and revised damping. The performance Mustang will also have improved stopping power thanks to six- and four-piston front and back rear caliper Brembo brakes, respectively.
Ford says the upgrades to the vehicle will help administer faster lap times a better overall performance on both tracks and streets.
Herman Salenbauch, the global director for Ford Performance, said the 2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 is a vehicle that would make the founder of the Shelby Mustang, Carroll Shelby, proud.
“Somewhere, Carroll is smiling,” Salenbauch said. “The new Shelby GT350 is our ultimate track Mustang. We’ve stuck to Carroll Shelby’s original formula for winning championships and made our Shelby GT350 even better with the latest in race-proven aerodynamics, tire and chassis technology.”
