The LA show is preparing to get rid of the Connected Car Expo and instead of that, they have come up with a pre-show that is designed to help automobile manufacturers and technology companies and startups.

Highlights

The LA Show is scheduled to take place in the fall of this year, but it will be preceded by AutoMobility LA which is preparing to showcase some part of the Connected Car Expo in the eyes of the traditional media houses and trade days. The slogan of the event is – One Scheduled, One Brand, One Show. Wow! Cool stuff!

You do not want to miss this! It sure beats seeing those terrible recent Star Wars or Jurassic Park movies!

The date has been finalized for the 14th of November and as usual, there will be an opening ceremony followed by a cocktail party. This is for the AutoMobility show that will also host panels, conferences, lot of demonstrations, and test drives and cars on display. You do not need to test drive an autonomous vehicle though considering it drives itself! Oh, I guess you could sit in the car while the car does the driving.

The show is scheduled to run for 10 days and will follow the AutoMobility LA and will remain unchanged. The LA Auto Show was first founded in the year 1907. A very long and deep history and rich heritage is associated with the show.

Connected Car Expo

The idea of folding the Connected Car Expo into traditional media and trade days so it precedes the auto show’s public event was in the process for several years. Someone at the expo said that the expo was never designed to be a permanent one anyways. Its purpose was to bridge the gap and that’s it.

If you go back half a decade, you will see that automobile manufacturers and technology companies were only talking about infotainment systems that are capable of handling voice activated commands and advance GPS navigation system. But now with the prospect of autonomous driving technology or driverless cars as it is known now by so many people, the need for automobile manufacturers to integrate and work with advance technology companies is more than ever before. The auto manufacturers have little choice but to work together and collaborate.

But they do not want to just be the hardware makers. Ford wants to own the software too. We all know what happened to Apple in the 1990s and their relationship with Microsoft.

The LA Auto Show has kind of become the center or the epic center of the automobile technology revolution that is all set to take the world by storm. It is only a matter of few years before we will see these companies making and selling products and commercializing the whole concept across the globe.

LA can rightly be said to be the place where ideas are born and nurtured in the automobile industry. This says something positive about a city that is bankrupt, with thousands unemployed, horrendous neighborhoods known for their criminality, and a place where criminal illegal aliens can hide. This LA auto phenomenon is what happens with silicone valley is merged with Detroit. At least LA has something going for it.

Go

The team behind the LA Auto Show is making efforts to expand their operations and bring their business to both automobile and mobility companies.

There is also a new feature called Go which is going to be an ongoing showcase of various technologies and gadgets such as surfboards, hover boards, skate boards, rocket skates, electric bicycles and more. Other products on the software front are going to showcase smart apps such as Uber, Lyft, Metromile, Honk and Luxe.

The LA Auto Show’s popularity can be summarized by the fact that last year more than 22000 people had participated in the event making it a great success. The Connected Car Expo on the other hand drew a total of 2400 participants.
