As each day passes in the year 2020, the media we consume continues to change. One of the most successful media formats of recent years is a simple one, yet it continues to be incredibly effective: the podcast.

Now, on August 10, 2020, Ford is planning to debut a podcast of their very own. This one, titled Bring Back Bronco: The Untold Story, will take the form of an eight-episode series about the history of the Ford Bronco, the world’s first SUV. Of course, this topic has become extremely popular as of late, since the Ford Motor Company has recently revealed the 2021 Ford Bronco family.

The podcast, which takes a journalistic approach to share the story of Ford’s favorite son with a whole new generation, will be hosted by former National Public Radio transportation and economics correspondent Sonari Glinton. It will trace the tale of the Bronco all the way from its inception through its initial production halt in 1996.

"The Bronco is an iconic vehicle, with an unusual history of twists and turns, ascents and descents,” said Ford Chief Communications Officer Mark Truby. “It demands a fresh storytelling approach to shed light on what makes it special and so compelling to its huge fan base, as well as for new fans who will discover the rich history along with the new Broncos."

The story of the Ford Bronco is an exceptional one, and it runs right alongside dramatic changes, events, and evolutions in our nation’s culture. “The Bronco is on a very short list of American vehicles that provide a true lens through which you can view the changes in the fabric of America,” said Truby.

Social politics, notorious police chases, and the transformation of Detroit will all be illuminated in great detail by Glinton and guest story-teller Bailey Sisoy-Moore, a certified expert on the history of The Motor City.

"This project was of special interest to me for several reasons, including the fact that my mother worked for Ford for many years and I worked on a Ford assembly line before I went into radio and reporting,” said Glinton, who is now a principal at DeLite Media. "Plus, I think you can really tell the story of America when you dig deep and tell the story of a product, and I have always wanted to do that."

Bring Back Bronco is produced by the award-winning Pacific Content agency in conjunction with GTB. The bi-weekly podcast will seek to unearth and discuss in-detail the many mind-blowing stories that revolve around the king of the wild.

One such story is the formation and diligence of the “Bronco Underground,” an exclusive group of Ford employees who schemed, plotted, and toiled for more than twenty years to bring the Bronco back to the top of the automotive mountain.

In addition, the podcast will interview many subjects, both inside and outside Ford, who have been a part of Bronco’s history for years, or just recently as a result of the off-road vehicle’s 2020 rebirth.

Bring Back Bronco will be available on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher and everywhere listeners find their favorite podcasts on August 10, which is also the day before Bronco’s birthday.

All eight episodes, as well as bonus content like historic photos, documents, early sketches of the original Bronco and of the 2021 Broncos, as well as oral histories from Ford employees and Bronco fans–can also be found at broncopodcast.ford.com beginning August 10.
